La Union, Philippines January 2024
Stipend Application
Purpose:
Experiencing international rural health in countries with limited resources can be an eye-opening, educational, and life-changing experience for any premedical student. PMAH Foundation (PMAHF) and Ohana Medical Mission (OMM) believe that providing opportunities for our students to volunteer in such a mission can be vital to their premedical journey and would like to help cover part of the expenses to help them do so.
What:
PMAHF and OMM will grant three (3) premedical students $1500 each to cover part of their travel and accommodation expenses to volunteer in OMM’s upcoming medical mission to La Union, Philippines on January 7-13, 2024. The stipend amount is meant to help cover majority of the student’s flight and hotel. The student will still be responsible for any remaining expenses exceeding $1500. Further details about final expenses will be provided by OMM.
Who:
Students who are 18 years and older with a valid passport, passionate about caring for the underserved community, eager to volunteer, and is a proactive team player are encouraged to apply. If chosen, recipients will be connected with OMM’s planning committee to review the mission itinerary, travel details, and final expenses. The stipend will be given to the student to pay for their travel.
Should the student not join the mission for any reason after the stipend has been dispensed, the student is responsible for returning the full amount to PMAHF within 30 days of the notification that he/she is no longer going.
All stipend awardees will be expected to share their experiences collectively as a group during a 5-7 minute presentation during one of PMAH’s upcoming events in 2024. Further information will be provided.
